KAFFA, a Portuguese brand of encapsulated coffee and one of the main players in the manufacture of coffee capsules in Europe and Portugal, in partnership with A Avó came to work, starts a pioneering project to recycle and reuse burlap coffee bags.
The partnership, whose first production is already being finalized by A Avó came to work, intends to give new life to the burlap sacks that transport green coffee to the KAFFA factory (in Trajouce).
"On average, about 5 tons of coffee enter KAFFA daily, in 60 kilo bags. The volume we use is enormous and it makes no sense, nowadays, not to think of reuse alternatives" says Madalena Moniz Pereira, Business Manager at KAFFA, adding "Once the idea was formed, the challenge was to make it happen.
It was then that we thought of incorporating to this recycling project another one that has always fascinated us for its strong social component, uniqueness, and innovation: Grandma Came to Work".
The partnership, already in full operation, includes the development and production of 6 new products: 4 types of Bags (of different sizes) and 2 types of Aprons.
The products, offered by KAFFA in concrete promotional campaigns, will also be available for sale in KAFFA's online store.
The first production - a special reference created to mark the presence, with KAFFA, at the World of Private Label - is already finished and will be presented, for the first time, at the international exhibition of the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), which will take place on May 22nd and 23rd, in Amsterdam.
"It was with great pleasure that we embraced this challenge from KAFFA. A national brand, 100% Portuguese and that, like us, defends and supports Portugueseness, design and innovation" says Angelo Campota from A Grandma Came to WorkWe are very excited and are sure that consumers will greatly appreciate the recycling and environmental preservation effort that KAFFA is initiating with this project," he concludes.
